about

cover art IS NOT MINE IN ANY WAY. It is generated using Midjourney Bot's AI image generator (with the prompt "spectre of stars"). All credit goes to the original artists whose data was used to generate this!
Infact, I'd like to just say that AI art will never be as original as human art for one reason: because humans put their feelings into their work, AI does not.

made specifically for Deathlance compilation: deathlancerecords.bandcamp.com/album/deathlance-retrospective-vol-1

-- DESCRIPTION:
track made specifically for deathlance compilation.

this layers 2 tracks, instead of just dealing with one, which is something I always wanted to do actually! this doesn't really sound natural melodically, hell the melodies diverge A LOT, but the core sound actually works, and is an overall decent experiment once again.

I nagged for the comp rules (because limits help force creativity) and basically they kinda were:
- synth-based
- 5-10mins
so that's what I rolled with. it ain't ez fitting 2 (totally friggin unrelated in every way) tracks together, but I imagined they worked in my head and that's what I went with. i slowed them both down to fit in the same key, using Moises for assistance. that helped a LOT in making it work, and in turn made this test of sound kinda work. the contrast of the low-end synths and high-end acoustic instruments kinda complemented each other well

-- TRACKS USED:
Vangelis - Love Theme
Junko Ohashi - Rainy Saturday & Coffee Break

-- TOOLS USED:
- Moises.ai (separate track into its instruments via AI)
- Audacity, with Paulstretch (stretch & edit and layer tracks)
- OrilRiver (reverb VST)

-- HOW IT WAS DONE:
Love Theme was put in Moises.ai to separate out the saxophone. I picked "Vocals, Drums, Bass, Strings, Other". This separated the sax INSANELY well (as vocals), and I used the entire track minus the vocals as Sample 1. did the same with Rainy Saturday and used track minus vocals and drums as Sample 2.

i did some extra work and cut sample 1 a bit, removing the middle section. this was to make it shorter p much, and remove a loud intense bit in the OG track which woulda been too distracting in this edit

Sample 1: paulstretch via 2,1, slowdown to 85%.
Sample 2: paulstretch via 3,1, slowdown to 90%.
aaaand I basically layered sample 1 roughly in the middle of sample 2 (cuz it's longer).
OrilRiver on Sample 2. Deep Cave preset with changes like max width and room size. minimum pre width. normal EQ. wet only.
cut out the bits where Sample 1 is dead silent and y00 done
